Discounted Health Insurance to Protect ISBA Members

Health Insurance Exclusively for ISBA Members
The Iowa State Bar Association recently launched a new health insurance option available to members only. The ISBA Bar Insurance Committee and Board of Governors have unanimously approved a partnership USI Insurance Services and United Healthcare to bring this new option to ISBA members.
The United Healthcare Level Funded Plan is a unique benefit plan offering medical, dental, and vision programs specifically for Iowa State Bar Association employer groups with a special discount provided to ISBA members that is not available elsewhere. ISBA members will receive a 4% discount on posted insurance rates in addition to the ability to obtain a rebate if group claims are lower than anticipated.
As part of the due diligence process when evaluating program options for members, ISBA used this plan to provide health insurance to its own employees. In the first year, the ISBA lowered premiums by 6%. After 15 months on the plan, the association received a rebate of approximately 7%, or $3,900, due to lower-than-expected claims. Depending on claim experience, member firms can experience similar savings.
