Steve Smith is a Senior Sales Executive with the USI Midsouth Healthcare Practice team and is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. His team (specializing in physician practices) analyzes client business issues and challenges leveraging USI ONE™, a proprietary platform integrating analytics, networked resources, and strategic planning to deliver highly customized solutions with economic impact. He has over 24 years of experience focusing on creative solutions to address the complex risks associated with medical professional liability/medical malpractice for physicians and surgeons, hospital-employed physicians, and healthcare facilities.
Steve has specialized in the area of medical malpractice insurance since 1995 and began his career as a medical malpractice underwriter with NC Medical Mutual. In 2001, Steve joined Wells Fargo Insurance placing professional liability coverage for physicians and surgeons across the U.S. and served in that role for almost 15 years before moving to MagMutual as an Account Executive and later to a large, national/regional broker where he was a Medical Professional Liability Insurance Specialist. In 2017, he joined USI as an important addition to the USI Healthcare Practice team.
Steve earned his B.A. from North Carolina State University. He resides in Apex, NC along with his wife Karla, and sons Hayden and Connor, where they are active members of Apex United Methodist Church.
